The Conspicuous Pucker
Intrigued by a social media era of ostentation and selfies everywhere, Clementine paints the "selfie pucker" and other symbols as a reflection of self-absorption and a call for society to connect with the world in a more genuine way that looks past the self. Her art is ultimately intended to raise consciousness in the world.
"Selfless in a Selfie World" is Clementine's most compelling series that juxtaposes social media narcissism with present-day adversity. Her creative process includes a voyages to impoverished villages, photographing stories of individuals to incorporate into the body of work. Through a photo-transfer process, she includes the imagery in this painted mixed media series with acrylic on plexiglass and canvas.
Based in New York City & Dallas, Clementine has exhibited internationally in galleries and art fairs. She holds a B.A. from Boston College, with additional art studies at Parsons and Harvard. She was recognized by the World Art Dubai's Emerging Artist Award as among the best of 2016 international emerging talent. Her work is represented by Quogue Gallery in The Hamptons, New York and Hysteria Gallery in Milan, Italy.
